Fire Extinguisher — Annual Inspection
All portable fire extinguishers must be inspected annually by a licensed contractor and visually checked monthly by staff.
Overview
Portable fire extinguishers must be maintained under NFPA 10: a monthly visual check by staff and an annual certified inspection by a licensed fire-equipment contractor.
Annual Inspection
The contractor checks pressure, pin and tamper seal, shell condition, and affixes a new dated tag. Extinguishers are internally examined every 6 years and hydrostatically tested every 12.
Monthly Staff Check
Confirm each extinguisher is in place and accessible, pin and seal intact, gauge in the green, no damage, and the annual tag is current. Log it.
