What it is. The Certificate of Occupancy (CO) certifying the space may be legally occupied for its use after construction is complete and inspections pass. It supports the Certificate of Use and Business Tax Receipt.

Who issues it. City of Fort Lauderdale — Building Services (City layer).

When you need it. Before occupancy after a build-out or change of use.

How to apply. Complete permitted work; pass final inspections; the City issues the CO.

Fees. Per the City Building permitting — see source (⟢ VERIFY).

What SpoonSeal tracks. The document(s) you upload for this requirement, with automatic renewal/expiration tracking (Current, Due Soon, Expired). Where the city publishes health-inspection results (e.g., NYC and Chicago), SpoonSeal syncs them automatically; elsewhere they can be added manually.
