Food Facility Plan Review — Sacramento County
New and remodeled Sacramento restaurants must pass Sacramento County (EMD) food plan review before construction or opening.
What it is. Pre-construction review of facility plans against the California Retail Food Code (layout, equipment, finishes, ventilation).
Who issues it. Sacramento County Environmental Management Department (EMD) — Environmental Health (County layer).
When you need it. Building a new food facility, converting a space to food use, changing food type/method/service style, or opening a space not previously permitted.
How to apply. Submit the Food Facility Plan Review application with one complete set of scaled plans to EMD Plan Review; approval expires one year after submittal. Expedited (2 working day) review is available for an added fee.
