What it is. City land-use clearance to serve alcohol, paired with the California ABC state license.

Who issues it. City of San Diego — Development Services Department (City layer). All ABC applicants must file a Zoning Use Verification; a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) is required for outlets outside the location limitations in San Diego Municipal Code §141.0502(b) or with added uses (e.g., live entertainment).

How to apply. File the Zoning Use Verification through the City's online permitting account; file a CUP if required. Applications are reviewed within ~15 business days of being deemed complete.
