Health Plan Check (SFDPH) — San Francisco
Before opening a San Francisco food facility, SFDPH Environmental Health must complete a plan check of your construction plans, separate from building inspection fees.
Overview
The SF Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Branch (EHB) reviews your food facility plans (layout, equipment, finishes, refrigeration, plumbing, grease handling) against CalCode.
This plan-check fee is separate from DBI building fees — EHB confirms the amount at your Permit Center appointment or after online submittal. If you are taking over an existing food space, you can request an EHB site evaluation before leasing to surface problems early.
What SpoonSeal tracks
The document(s) you upload for this requirement, with automatic renewal/expiration tracking (Current, Due Soon, Expired). Where the city publishes health-inspection results (e.g., NYC and Chicago), SpoonSeal syncs them automatically; elsewhere they can be added manually.
Stay ahead of this requirement
SpoonSeal stores your documents, tracks expirations, and reminds you before anything lapses — so you are always inspection-ready.
