What it is. A grease interceptor/trap for oil, grease, and grit to keep FOG out of the sewer, required by the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD Project Clear) Industrial Pretreatment program when directed by the Director (MSD Ordinance No. 8472). Interceptors must be located so as to be readily accessible for maintenance and inspection.

Who issues/enforces it. Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD Project Clear) — Industrial Pretreatment / Environmental Compliance (Regional layer covering the city and county).

When you need it. Any restaurant discharging FOG; the device is sized/installed during build-out.

How to comply. Install a compliant, accessible grease interceptor as required by MSD; coordinate with the City building/plumbing permit.
