Certificate of Occupancy — City of Tampa
Tampa issues a Certificate of Occupancy after all inspections pass; a change of use to a restaurant requires a new CO.
What it is. The Certificate of Occupancy certifying the space may be legally occupied for its use, issued after all required inspections pass.
Who issues it. City of Tampa — Construction Services, Inspection Services (City layer).
When you need it. Before occupancy; a change of how a space is used (e.g., retail to restaurant) requires a new CO even without construction. All Building/Plumbing/Electrical/Mechanical/Gas/Fire/Transportation/Landscaping/Stormwater inspections must be final.
How to apply. Obtain the CO from Inspection Services at the Construction Services Center once all inspections pass and fees are paid.
Fees. Per Construction Services permitting — see source (⟢ VERIFY).
What SpoonSeal tracks. The document(s) you upload for this requirement, with automatic renewal/expiration tracking (Current, Due Soon, Expired). Where the city publishes health-inspection results (e.g., NYC and Chicago), SpoonSeal syncs them automatically; elsewhere they can be added manually.
