Washington State Business License (UBI) — Seattle
Washington restaurants need a state Business License from the Department of Revenue, which issues a UBI; corporations and LLCs register with the Secretary of State first.
Overview
Corporations/LLCs/LPs first register with the WA Secretary of State, which issues a Unified Business Identifier (UBI); sole proprietors and general partnerships can skip that step.
Then file the state Business License Application (a single application covering many state licenses, trade-name registration, and a Department of Revenue taxpayer account for B&O and retail sales tax). A $19 base filing fee applies. The liquor license is also applied for through this same application (plus a WSLCB Liquor Addendum). Use the same legal name and UBI with every agency.
